Scott Hartnell scored his second goal of the game with less than a second left in overtime Sunday to lift the Philadelphia Flyers past Pittsburgh, 3-2. The visiting Penguins lost for the first time after 11 straight wins. Hartnell took a cross-ice feed from Danny Briere to beat Marc-Andre Fleury with nine-tenths of a second remaining. Kimmo Timonen also scored to help the Flyers rally from a 2-0 deficit against the Penguins, the hottest team in the N.H.L. Hartnell and Timonen scored goals in the third period against a weary Pittsburgh team playing its third road game in four days. “I don't know if we were trying to be too fancy, but we wore them down at the end,” Hartnell said. “Good things happen when you put the puck to the net, and that happened tonight.” Evgeni Malkin and Craig Adams scored for the Penguins. Sidney Crosby played in the third game of his comeback after a three-month absence caused by recurring concussion symptoms. The Penguins lost for the first time since Feb. 19, but they climbed within a point of the idle Rangers for first place in the Eastern Conference. The Flyers moved to 2 points behind Pittsburgh and 3 behind the Rangers. Crosby, who had five assists in his first two games back, failed to earn a point against a Flyers team that took two periods to find its groove. The Flyers failed to take a shot in the second until 4 minutes 47 seconds remained in the period, and they went nearly 18 minutes without a shot over all. They were booed off the ice by their restless fans in the second intermission. Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 38 shots as the Flyers improved to 3-1 against the Penguins this season. Blackhawks 5, Capitals 2: The rookie Andrew Shaw recorded his first two-goal game as Chicago defeated visiting Washington for its third straight win. Viktor Stalberg, Patrick Kane and Bryan Bickell also scored for Chicago, which is 7-1-1 in its last nine games despite the absence of its captain and leading goal scorer, Jonathan Toews. Mike Knuble and Alex Ovechkin scored for the Capitals. Coyotes 3, Oilers 2: Ray Whitney scored in the third period and added the winner in a shootout as Phoenix prevailed at Edmonton. Raffi Torres also scored for the Coyotes, who passed Los Angeles and San Jose to move into the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Jordan Eberle and Ales Hemsky scored for the Oilers. Predators 3, Ducks 1: Patric Hornqvist, Mike Fisher and David Legwand scored third-period goals as visiting Nashville completed a four-game sweep of Anaheim in their season series. Anders Lindback made 30 saves in his eighth start for the Predators while Pekka Rinne got the night off. Blue Jackets 2, Flames 1: Relieving the injured Curtis Sanford in the first period, Steve Mason made 28 saves as Columbus won a shootout against host Calgary. Cam Atkinson scored the winning goal in the shootout. Nikita Nikitin scored in regulation for the Blue Jackets, who lost a 4-3 decision Saturday night in Vancouver. Matt Stajan scored for the Flames. Hurricanes 4, Jets 3: Chad LaRose scored with 1:22 left in the third period to lift visiting Carolina past Winnipeg. Eric Staal had a pair of goals, and Jussi Jokinen added a short-handed goal and an assist for the Hurricanes. Cam Ward made 30 saves. Antti Miettinen had two straight goals for Winnipeg in the second period, and Nik Antropov scored his 13th goal of the season.
