Chicago netminder Corey Crawford took over from starter Ray Emery with his team trailing 3-1 to St. Louis and turned the game in the Blackhawks' favor, stopping all 18 shots he faced and earning a 4-3 shootout win over the NHL-best Blues Tuesday. Blackhawks right wing Andrew Brunette netted the opening goal of the game in the first period before the Blues chased Emery with goals by Jamie Langenbrunner, Andy McDonald and Patrik Berglund. Chicago's Viktor Stalberg trimmed the lead in the second period before Brent Seabrook tied the score at 3-3 in the third. After a scoreless overtime, Patrick Kane recorded the only goal in the shootout to give his team the triumph and snap the Blues' five-game win streak. Rangers 4, Hurricanes 2: The Rangers' performance against the Carolina Hurricanes was often erratic and undisciplined. But two positives emerged from the game at Madison Square Garden: the Rangers managed to win, 4-2, and the line of Brad Richards, Marian Gaborik and Carl Hagelin may be emerging, just at the right time, as a powerhouse. The line, assembled by Coach John Tortorella in a loss last Friday in Chicago, accounted for all of the Rangers' goals Tuesday and produced 9 points. Richards had two goals and an assist, and Hagelin and Gaborik each had a goal and two assists in the victory, which increased the Rangers' lead to 6 points over the Pittsburgh Penguins for the lead in the Atlantic Division and the Eastern Conference. Flyers 3, Devils 0: Ilya Bryzgalov stopped 17 shots for this third straight shutout and fourth in five games to lead the Philadelphia Flyers to win over the visiting Devils. Sean Couturier, Jakub Voracek and Danny Briere scored to provide the offense. Capitals 5, Islanders 4: Matt Hendricks scored in the fourth round of a shootout, and visiting Washington finished off a three-goal comeback against the Islanders. The Capitals trailed by 4-1 late in the second before Alex Ovechkin scored in the final minute of the period. Dmitry Orlov scored 1 minute 51 seconds into the third to make it 4-3, and Ovechkin tied it at 10:15 with his 29th goal. John Tavares scored twice and added an assist, Matt Moulson netted his 30th of the season, and defenseman Travis Hamonic also scored for the Islanders, who lost a third straight game in heartbreaking fashion. Lightning 6, Bruins 1: Steven Stamkos scored twice to reach 50 goals in a season for the second time, and Tampa Bay sent visiting Boston to its third straight loss. Stars 1, Wild 0: Jamie Benn's goal early in the third period and Kari Lehtonen's second consecutive shutout gave visiting Dallas its sixth straight victory, with a win over Minnesota. Flames 3, Sharks 2: Matt Stajan scored at 4:20 of overtime and Miikka Kiprusoff finished with 31 saves to lift Calgary over visiting San Jose. Panthers 5, Maple Leafs 2: Sean Bergenheim scored two goals and Florida beat visiting Toronto.
