Diplomatic solutions to political crises are often reached through dialogue, deliberations and compromises. Although such approaches can be effective in some cases, the process is slow and it can sometimes fail as happened in Syria where innocent civilians are being killed and their houses demolished day after day. Despite all the diplomatic negotiations, up to now, no tangible solution has been found to stop the regime of Al-Assad from violating the rights of the Syrian people and their families. The Arab ministers of foreign affairs and other senior officials have held meetings on the Syrian problem and the UN-Arab League peace envoy Kofi Annan has visited Damascus in an attempt to find a way to protect the Syrian people from the brutality of Al-Assad's regime. All the major players trying to find a solution to the Syrian crisis must move quickly to stop the killing of innocent people. The international community must immediately address the issue and force the Syrian regime to stop the genocide and to allow humanitarian aid to enter the country, particularly in those areas badly pummeled by Al-Assad's military. If the international community fails to do this, then it is abandoning its humanitarian principles and moral ethics. The world cannot just keep talking about protecting the Syrian people and be satisfied with the thought that diplomatic rounds of discussions are going on while the Syrian people are being systematically exterminated. It is like participating in the crime as an accomplice. __
