Saudi Telecom Co. (STC) displayed its successful and pioneer experience with cloud computing service at the first internationally held conference on computing and information technology organized by the University of Tayba, Madina. The event proved STC leadership, as it was the first to provide the market with this service last September in a conference attended by more than 70 world-recognized universities. Technological applications in the educational, health, engineering, architectural and traffic fields were discussed in general, though the main focus was on the best technological solutions and cloud computing. STC's participation in the event reflects the distinct relations and strategic partnership with the University of Tayba, and also asserts STC's commitment to provide the best of communication and information technology solutions to different firms. Cloud computing is promising to deliver a qualitative move in order to improve companies' performance and output. Cloud computing provides computation, software applications, data access, data management and storage resources without requiring cloud users to know the location and other details of the computing infrastructure. End users access cloud based applications through a web browser or a light weight desktop or mobile app while the business software and data are stored on servers at a remote location. Cloud application providers strive to give the same or better service and performance than if the software programs were installed locally on end-user computers. At the foundation of cloud computing is the broader concept of infrastructure convergence.
