Jeddah Administrative Court has sentenced one of the men involved in the Jeddah flood case to 365 days in prison, suspension from work and a fine of SR1,000 for forging official papers. The court decided to give a suspended sentence to the man because of his age (50 years old) and because he is the sole breadwinner of a large family that consists of three wives and 15 children, according to a report in Al-Hayat newspaper. The chief of the judiciary and its other members said the man had learned his lesson and would not commit the same crime again. The Administrative Appeal Court in Makkah region endorsed the sentence, which was given after the court examined the signature of the title deed registered at a Jeddah Notary Public Office and found it to be forged. The court stated that the accused confessed to his acts and that he forged the signature with the help of another official. When the accused knew that the notary public discovered the forged signature, he left the notary public's office quickly. However, he was arrested later on and charged with forgery.
