The Winnipeg Jets narrowed the Florida Panthers' Southeast Division lead with a comprehensive 7-0 thrashing of their rivals at the MTS Center Thursday. The Jets (31-27-8) scored five goals in the third period to add some gloss to the scoreline as well as snap a three-game winning streak for the Panthers (30-21-12). Ondrej Pavelec made 33 saves to earn the shutout for Winnipeg. The win moves Winnipeg to within two points of Florida and into the eighth and final playoff berth in the Eastern Conference. NY Rangers 3, Hurricanes 2: Marian Gaborik scored his 30th goal of the season and Brandon Prust netted the winner in the Rangers' 3-2 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes. Gaborik reached the 30-goal mark for the seventh time in his NHL career. Bruins 4, Devils 3: David Krejci completed his second career hat trick at 2 minutes 59 seconds of overtime to give the Boston Bruins a 4-3 victory over the visiting Devils. Tyler Seguin also scored for the defending NHL champion Bruins, who opened a 3-point lead over second-place Ottawa in the Northeast Division and gave the Devils their fourth straight loss. Flyers 6, Islanders 3: Matt Read scored twice and Jaromir Jagr had the go-ahead goal to lead Philadelphia over the visiting Islanders. Andrej Meszaros and Scott Hartnell also scored for Philadelphia, which had been slumping. The Flyers, who had lost five of eight, moved into fifth place in the Eastern Conference. Josh Bailey scored two goals and Kyle Okposo had one for the Islanders. Canadiens 5, Wild 4: David Desharnais scored in regulation and in a shootout as host Montreal pulled out a win despite blowing a three-goal third-period lead. Minnesota scored three times in the final four minutes of regulation to tie the game. Desharnais got the only shootout goal and Setoguchi lost the puck and then fell on the Wild's last attempt to give Montreal the win as it ended a season-high five-game losing streak. Flames 4, Coyotes 2: Olli Jokinen capped a three-goal Calgary outburst in the first period as the Flames defeated Phoenix. It was the Coyotes' first home loss since falling to Anaheim in late January, and it ended a Phoenix run of 11-0-1 over all. Blue Jackets 2, Avalanche 0: Steve Mason stopped 32 shots for his first shutout of the season, defensemen Fedor Tyutin and Nikita Nikitin scored, and host Columbus snapped a two-year, 0-9-1 drought against Colorado.
