Virginia coach Tony Bennett heard the whistle and didn't see what happened, but figured his team was in good shape. Instead, he missed what proved to be a turning point as No. 24 Virginia squandered an 11-point lead in the final 4 1/2 minutes Thursday night and lost 63-60 to No. 22 Florida State on Ian Miller's contested 3-pointer from the right wing with 0.8 seconds to play. On the play in question, the Seminoles had just pulled to 58-52 on Miller's three-point play. With the Cavaliers trying to inbound the ball, Harris was called for tossing a Florida State player aside in a fight for position, and instead of getting the ball, they saw Miller drill a 3-pointer. Even after Miller's 3-pointer that followed, Virginia still led 58-55, and later stretched it to 60-55 when Jontel Evans made a pair of free throws with 3:01 to go. But that was the Cavaliers' final points as the Seminoles scored 16 of the last 18. Kentucky 79, Georgia 49: Darius Miller hit five three-pointers and scored 17 points, and No. 1 Kentucky beat Georgia to extend the nation's longest home winning streak to 52 games and push its overall run to 21. Kentucky (29-1, 15-0 Southeastern Conference) made an emphatic statement in its final game at Rupp Arena this season with an offensive flurry that nearly equaled the stiff defensive effort the Wildcats have given all season. Kentucky, the nation's best defensive team by field-goal percentage, made a season-best 15 three-pointers, hitting six in a row in the second half. Donte' Williams led Georgia (13-16, 4-11) with 17 points. The Bulldogs were 3-for-19 from three-point range. Coach John Calipari hasn't lost at Rupp Arena in his three seasons in Lexington, and the Wildcats are poised to make a run at their eighth national title thanks to player-of-the-year contender Anthony Davis and a supporting cast of NBA-worthy talent. Michigan 71, Illinois 62: The Fighting Illini were hoping to deliver a resume-building win over Michigan, but that wasn't in the cards for them, and it's starting to look like nothing short of a Big Ten tournament championship will get them into the 2012 NCAA tournament. After trailing by eight points at halftime, the Illini rallied early in the second half to pull within one point. But they were never able to wrest control of the game from the Wolverines, who went on to win.
