Efforts to rid the bureaucracy of corruption by enacting laws and regulations to prevent anyone from engaging in it are not meant to cast doubt on the honesty of anyone. They are meant to protect people from losing their honor and integrity. Although corruption has been discovered in some government agencies, the cases were limited to individuals who betrayed public trust by not honoring their responsibility. These individuals took advantage of the fact that some senior officials did not monitor what they were doing and failed to enforce the laws and regulations. That tempted them to dip their fingers into public funds. It is unfair to say that an agency is corrupt just because one case of corruption has been discovered there. It is unfair to generalize and cast aspersions on the whole staff. Prevention is the key. That is why the National Anti-Corruption Commission was formed. As well as protecting the dignity of individuals, it also aims to protect public funds from misuse and prevent any kind of abuse of office. The commission does not only seek to uncover cases of corruption, but it also establishes regulations and mechanisms to prevent the occurrence of future wrongdoing. The commission seeks to weed out corrupt officials and employees and to clear the names of those who are proven to be innocent. The government's move to open branches of the commission all over the Kingdom aims to support its role and mission, which is to fight corruption. __
