Al-Daweesh on list of Most Influential Persons in the Middle East
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 26 - 02 - 2012

Gulf Business magazine ranks Eng. Saud bin Majed Al-Daweesh, the CEO of STC Group, among the most influential personalities in the Middle East in 2011, for his active contribution to telecom sector.
The monthly magazine said that in the tumultuous changes and financial crises taking place since 2008 in the sector, leading consequently to the demise of a number of various companies, in addition to inflation due to world economic volatility, the selection of these persons have been based on their effects and impacts on a number of variables such as capital movement, human resources, extension plans for 2012 and the personal as well as practical status in the communications-business sector.
The selection of Al-Daweesh the selection was based on his achievements which led to the success of STC Group, more recently, in winning the 3rd license to operate in both Kuwait and Bahrain, respectively.
STC Group provides more than 160 million customers with its services in 11 countries, a matter that has put it among the biggest operators in the world telecom sector, and the leading one, regionally.
Al-Daweesh has led the process of putting forward a clear-cut vision for STC Group, in addition to leading a new growth-targeted strategy based on the latest and up-to-date developments and innovations in telecom markets.
Al-Daweesh has took over the top managing position of STC Group in February 2006, in the same year that the company changed its legal status to a group, making him its chief executive officer. He is an engineering degree holder from the University of Southern California, with 25 years of experience in the field of networks and wireless communications.
Currently Al-Daweesh holds a number of positions in other companies, among them are: Chairman of the Board of Trustees, AXIS Company, Indonesia, Chairman of AWAL Net Board, Chairman of Intigral Co., Vice Chairman of Oger Telekom, member of MAXIS board, Malaysia as well as member of the board of Tadawul.
