English conductor Sir Simon Rattle has won Denmark's highest musical honor — the 600,000 kroner ($107,212) Sonning Music Prize. The award committee declined to say why Rattle, the conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic since 1999, was tapped. Committee spokeswoman Bente Legarth said Friday the citation will be made public when the 57-year-old receives the award during a concert in the Danish capital Copenhagen on Feb. 2, 2013. The prize is named after Leonie Sonning and has been awarded annually since 1959 to an internationally renowned composer, musician, conductor or singer. __
