Badiunnisa Kindergarten teacher International Indian School, Jeddah A good teacher is like a candle - it consumes itself to light the way for others. I, now complete 26 years in my teaching profession and during this journey I have had lots of experiences. Teaching is a very challenging profession, for it's a profession that creates all the other professions. A teacher creates a doctor, a lawyer, an engineer, a businessman and even a scholar. Teaching should be full of ideas instead of stuffed with facts. We should concentrate on the quality of teaching rather than quantity. Kids should never be over-burdened with studies, they should enjoy coming to school and they should make it a habit to study by themselves. Teachers who inspire realize there will always be rocks in the road ahead of us. They will be stumbling blocks or stepping stones; it all depends on how we use them. I'm never lenient with my students nor am I any time too strict with them. I teach my students what is good for them and make them realize by themselves that what they are doing is either worth appreciating or it's worth scolding? One thing I wish to focus more on is that kids must take food on time. There can be a healthy brain only in a healthy body and thus I insist my students to eat well. I even make them eat with my hands during their lunch break. I always make it a point that all the kids finish their lunch. If a kid eats well then only he can focus well on studies and is in proper mood to take up the lessons. My hobbies include reading books and of all the books, the “Medicines of the Prophet”, is my favorite book. It has helped me in all the walks of life and the medicines mentioned in this book; I use them for my students, my family and even suggest them to my colleagues. This book has got so many wonderful cures for kids and adults diseases, that I even suggested it to my parents. As told to Munawarunnisa Nazneen/Saudi Gazette __
