Rich Harden struck out 10 in an impressive debut for the Chicago Cubs, who blew a five-run lead in the ninth inning before beating the San Francisco Giants 8-7 on Reed Johnson's single in the 11th on Saturday. Jim Edmonds homered and drove in four runs early for the Cubs, who led 7-0 after four innings and held on to win for the fifth time in six games in the National League. The Giants have lost six straight. Cubs pitcher Sean Marshall singled off Brian Wilson (0-2) to start the bottom of the 11th. Mark DeRosa then walked, and Marshall was forced out on Mike Fontenot's bunt attempt. Johnson then laced a hit to right and DeRosa slid into home just ahead of Emmanuel Burriss' throw. Mets 3, Rockies 0: At New York, Jose Reyes homered and the resilient New York bullpen shut down Colorado after Pedro Martinez left with a sore shoulder, combining on a one-hitter. Fernando Tatis and Brian Schneider also drove in runs for the Mets, who have won eight straight for the first time since June 15, 2006. Martinez left after four innings, allowing just a hit and a walk. The three-time Cy Young Award winner was replaced by Carlos Muniz (1-1) to start the fifth. The Mets bullpen has pitched 18 1-3 innings of shutout ball on this homestand. Diamondbacks 10, Phillies 4: At Philadelphia, Randy Johnson helped secure his 290th career victory with a two-run double to start an eight-run fourth inning, and Arizona beat Philadelphia. Johnson (6-7) struck out three in six innings, but left while warming up in the seventh because of cramping in his calf that began after running the bases in the fourth. The 44-year-old Johnson allowed four runs, five hits and walked one. Phillies starter Adam Eaton (3-8) allowed eight runs on seven hits, failing to reach the fourth inning for the second straight start. Pirates 12, Cardinals 11, 10 innings: At Pittsburgh, Jason Michaels hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning, the Pirates' third big homer in three innings, and Pittsburgh rallied from six runs down in the eighth to beat St. Louis. Reds 8, Brewers 2: At Milwaukee, Edinson Volquez struck out 10 in seven sharp innings for his 12th win, and Adam Dunn homered twice to lead Cincinnati past Milwaukee. Astros 6, Nationals 4: At Washington, Hunter Pence homered and drove in three runs to help Houston beat Washington. Braves 4, Padres 1: At San Diego, Jeff Francoeur had a tiebreaking, broken bat single with the bases loaded in the sixth inning to help Atlanta extend Greg Maddux's winless skid to 12 starts. Marlins 5, Dodgers 3, 11 innings: At Los Angeles, Dan Uggla doubled home the go-ahead run in the 11th inning, Jorge Cantu homered as Florida beat Los Angeles.
