Awards for Filipinos Overseas
The Embassy of the Philippines in Riyadh announced last week the launching of the 2012 Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas, a biennial search to recognize exceptional individuals for their outstanding contribution to Philippine progress and development. The awards are also conferred on overseas Filipinos who have shown excellence and distinction in their profession and line of work. Rules on the filing of nominations are listed in the Embassy's site at http://www.philembassy-riyadh.org.

Advocacy and Media Awards
The Commission on Filipinos Overseas has formally opened the nomination for the 2nd Migration Advocacy and Media Awards (MAMA) for 2012, the Philippine Embassy has announced. As in previous years, MAMA aims to recognize the significant role of media in the promotion and advocacy of migration and development. Indian consular tour to Abha
A team from the Consulate General of India Jeddah will be visiting Abha to provide Consular services (limited to attestation and passport services not being provided by the outsourced agencies) to Indian nationals Thursday (Feb. 23) from 0900 to 1300 hours and 1700 to 2000 hours at Hotel Al Rayyah. (Tel.No. 07-227 0654). Indian nationals may note that a representative of Outsourced Agencies would also be present at the site. Indian nationals residing in the area may, may apply for the consular service to meet the visiting officials and also to convey their grievances / suggestions relating to labor, welfare and outsourced agencies. They should bring with them written statement narrating their problems.

The Lost Treasure
The Young Muslimah Project presents an unforgettable evening with Umm Zakiyyah, author of the “If I Should Speak” trilogy, as she launches her latest novel, “Hearts We Lost,” on Thursday, Feb. 23, from 1-9 p.m. at Dar Al-Dhikr for Women in Sulaymaniyyah Residential District in Riyadh. The day promises to be packed with invigorating talks, melodious nasheeds, mind-boggling riddles and a relaxed book discussion. The event also features inspiring talks by authors Umm Zakiyyah and Ayesha Hamdan, the Annual Dar Al-Dhikr Open Day: Open Bazaar and Food Sale from 1 p.m. onwards and Baby-sitting and Crafts from Asr to Maghrib for children aged 1 and above. Admission is free for ages 16 and above. Entrance fee is SR25 for ages 15 and under. Book reception starts promptly at 3 p.m. and will be held exclusively among readers who have read the book. Ten best reflections on how Umm Zakiyyah's heart-warming novels affected readers will be selected for the Personal Reflections activity. Reflections will be limited to one minute each and should not include plot spoilers. The entire reflection as it will be spoken or read must be submitted in full to [email protected] by midnight of Feb. 22, Wednesday.
