Saudi Gazette MAKKAH — A meeting of the executive board of King Abdullah Award for Medical Research concluded in the presence of Dr. Bandar Al-Knawy, executive director of health affairs in the Saudi Arabian National Guard. At the meeting held at King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC), the members of the executive board discussed the regulations and the scientific criteria of the award by taking into consideration the Kingdom's vision and the need for such scientific research. The board members were from many countries including Saudi Arabia, the United States, the United Kingdom and South Korea. They approved the award and also discussed possible obstacles and the implementation strategies. "This award mainly aims at encouraging society to conduct unlimited scientific research that would help and expand the knowledge of society and the coming generations. On the other hand, the award targets the national research within the country. So the awards aim to recognize medical researchers and scholars who reached the international stage but unfortunately were not honored. King Abdullah Award is the right opportunity to honor medical researchers and scholars," said Ahmad Al-Askar, executive director of KAIMRC. He said KAIMRC under the Saudi Arabian National Guard Health Affairs continues to accept nominations of the researchers who like to be considered for the award.
