Saudi Gazette JEDDAH – The 5th edition of the Ramadan lectures of a young Indian Islamic scholar drew huge audience here last week. Hundreds of people, including women, turned out to listen to the highly inspiring speeches of Rashid Gazzali held fromWednesday through Friday at Impala Garden in Sharafiyyah. The function was conducted jointly by the Jeddah chapter of Sign in association with a panel representing various organizations of Jeddah Keralite Community. The lectures were based on three topics of family, humanity, and spirituality. Gazzali, who is an international trainer, called on believers to build an ideal family in line with the tenets of Islam, which presents a comprehensive code of life for the entire humanity to achieve success in their worldly life and salvation in the hereafter. He also underscored the need for putting full trust in Almighty Allah's mercy in tackling challenges and difficulties in life. "Allah will shower mercy on those who show mercy and lend a helping hand to fellow human beings," he said. The opening day session was inaugurated by V.P. Mohammed Ali, managing director of Jeddah National Hospital and chief patron of Jeddah chapter of Sign. Ahmed Palayat, chairman of the organizing committee, presided. Sign Jeddah Chapter President Rasheed Varikkodan presided over the concluding session. K.P. Mohammed Kutty, president of the Saudi chapter of Kerala Muslim Cultural Center and chief patron of Sign, inaugurated the session. Those who offered felicitation speeches in both sessions included Mohammed Alungal, president of Abeer Medical Group, Gopi Nedungadi, Dr. Ismail Maritheri, Dr. Kavungal Mohammed, Ismail Kallayi, Dr. V.P.M. Musthafa, Salim Rawther, Shareef Sagar, Abubaker Arimbra, Baby Neelambra, Abdul Majeed Naha, Nasar Chavakkad, P.V. Ashraf, Ismail Mundakkulam, Nawas Vembayam, Ali Moulavi Nattukal, Abubacker Darimi, K.C. Abdurahman and Adv. Alavikkutty. Sign Jeddah Chief Executive Coordinator Nasser Veliyankode welcomed the gathering while Media Coordinator C.T. Shihab proposed a vote of thanks. Gazzali, executive director of Sign India, a Kerala-based human resources training outfit, has held around 1,000 Ramadan lectures in India and the Gulf states over the last few years. He is also delivering Ramadan lectures in Riyadh and Dammam during this holy month.
