RIYADH — With the current tenure of Aligarh Muslim University Old Boys Association (AMUOBA) Riyadh chapter nearing completion, the traditional Iftar party sets the stage for upcoming elections for new office bearers. The current president Suhail Ahmed exuded hope that new talents groomed during his tenure will live up to the expectation to offer visionary leadership. The chief guest of the event was Dr. Hifzur Rahman Azmi, the first secretary at Embassy of Riyadh. In his speech, Azmi highlighted the vision and mission for which this august institution was founded. Speaking to Saudi Gazette the potential presidential candidate Syed Mohammad Mutayyab stated that the blessings of the seniors, their rich experiences and active participation of the new talents would lead the association to new heights. Mutayyab disclosed the name of proposed candidates of his would-be team, which included eminent educationist Arshad Ali Khan as vice president. Mutayyab further emphasized the need to include youth in the core committee of the organization. Veteran Alig Rabbu Khan and Salman Azmi expressed their gratification over the entry of younger generation of Aligs hoping that they will exert their efforts to introduce meaningful programs in the future. It was observed that many executive members including Dr. Abdur Raheem Khan, Abrar Hussain, Firoz Khan and former General Secretary Mir Taqiuddin skipped the party. Prominent among others present at the occasion were Syed Munir Ahmed, president Bihar Anjuman, Anisur Rahman, president Jamia Almuni Association, Dr. Shaikh Abdullah, Junaid Khan and Syed Aftab Nizami.
