Qatar must change its policies and stop supporting "extremist groups", the Saudi foreign minister said Tuesday in Paris. Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister Adel Al-Jubeir said that harming Qatar was not Riyadh's goal, but that it had to make a necessary choice. "Qatar has to stop its support of groups such as Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood," Jubeir said in statements on Tuesday. "We decided to make it clear that enough is enough," Jubeir added. "We want Qatar to be an ally in finding peace and stability in the region." His statements came as Jordan decided to reduce diplomatic status with Qatar and Moroccan airlines announced cancellation of flights via Qatar. Al-Jubeir said the damage caused by economic measures taken by some Arab states against Qatar should convince it change its policies, including regarding extremist groups. "We believe that common sense and logic will convince Qatar to take the right steps. The decisions that were made were very strong and will have a fairly large cost on Qatar and we do not believe that Qataris want to sustain those costs," Al-Jubeir told reporters. Meanwhile, Al-Jubeir held talks with his French counterpart Jean-Yves Le Drian in Paris. During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations, means of enhancing them and joint efforts exerted to combat terrorism and extremism, in addition to the developments on the regional and international arenas. The meeting was attended by Saudi Ambassador to France Dr. Khalid Al-Anqari. — Agencies
