Saudi Gazette MAKKAH — The Civil Defense is conducting frequent inspections in the holy city to ensure that safety and security regulations are followed in commercial, services and residential establishments used by pilgrims. Makkah Civil Defense Safety Director Col. Abdullah Al-Qurashi said the violation of safety regulations could result in the shutdown of the establishment. "The Civil Defense prioritizes the safety of pilgrims and visitors of the holy city," said Al-Qurashi. "We have divided the city into areas and each area has more than one inspection and field team to ensure the safety of pilgrims. The Civil Defense also conducts several campaigns on social media and popular places to raise awareness about the importance of safety regulations," he said. Makkah Civil Defense Preventive Planning Director Fawaz Al-Zaidi said the Civil Defense has organized more than 600 field visits to housing establishments in the city.
