Faisal inaugurated on Monday evening the first phase of the iconic Jabal Omar Project near the Grand Mosque in Makkah. Speaking on the occasion, Prince Khaled said that the development of Makkah, the holiest site in the world, is the duty of everybody. Makkah Deputy Emir Prince Abdullah Bin Bandar and several senior officials and business leaders attended the ceremony. Prince Khaled was briefed on the project and its future expansion plans. He also honored founding directors of the board of Jabal Omar Development Company, headed by Sheikh Abdul Rahman Faqeeh. The emir named the main conference hall at Hilton Hotel after Faqeeh. The first phase of the project, which was implemented at a cost of SR3.41 billion, includes four foundation structures, ten hotel towers, and 97 villas. The hotel towers include Hilton Suites Makkah, Makkah Marriott Hotel, Hyatt Regency Makkah, and Jabal Omar Conrad Hotel. There are also several shopping malls launched as part of the phase. The company is developing 2.2 million square meters of land in five phases at an estimated cost of SR20 billion.
