The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has issued a warning that all silicone implants sold by a Netherlands-based firm, trademarked M-Implants, used the same toxic products of the now defunct French firm, Poly Implant Prostheses. Dr. Saleh Al-Tayar, Deputy Executive Director of the SFDA, said over 320 women had the harmful silicone implants, reported Al-Watan Arabic daily on Sunday. “These products were marketed under the trademark M-Implants during the period 1988 to 2011 and used the same silicone implants used by the French company (Poly Implant Prostheses).” The SFDA warned that plastic surgeons should not use the products marketed by the Netherlands company. It also called on distributors of medical equipment and products in the Kingdom to provide it with information about the numbers of silicone implants that have been marketed in the Kingdom under the brand M-Implants. All women who had silicone implants should go to medical centers to check the quality of the product and contact the SFDA's call center for help. Al-Tayar said women can call 01-4709340, BRAVO (24 hours) 0515170895, fax 01-2757246 or email [email protected].
