The Ministry of Civil Service has found that 400 government officials have not shown up for work ever since they were promoted four years ago. An informed source told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that the officials were transferred to other regions, but they have not moved to those regions yet to begin their work. The source said the officials may lose any right to future promotions and that they must shift to the regions that they have been assigned to. If they perform their duties there, then the ministry will consider promoting them to higher ranks, he said. Some government officials violate laws and do not move when they are transferred to a new region, the source added. A Council of Ministers decision stipulates that the Control and Investigation Board will be tasked with field visits to ensure promoted officials are at their workplace. The Ministry of Civil Service will no longer be responsible for inspection visits, he said. __
