The Ministry of Social Affairs will deport any expatriate found guilty of abusing persons with disabilities at local rehabilitation centers, a senior source at the Makkah Rehabilitation Center was quoted as saying in Al-Madina Arabic daily on Friday. In addition, a fine of between SR500 and SR2,000 will be slapped on the company that employs the person. An expatriate will receive a warning if there is verbal abuse, but if the offense is repeated, there will be an investigation and the person deported, said the source. There will be an immediate investigation if physical violence is involved, the source explained. The Ministry of Social Affairs won't allow any abuse of persons with disabilities, including orphans and the elderly, the source pointed out. There are three companies which run rehabilitation centers in the country, the source said. The ministry urged all 37 rehabilitation centers in the Kingdom to install surveillance cameras to protect persons with disabilities from possible mistreatment or violence, the source added.
