Saudi Gazette JEDDAH — Pakistan International School Jeddah (PISJ) Azizia senior girls wing's Bazm-e-Urdu Adab (literary society) celebrated the 79th death anniversary of Pakistan's thinker, poet and philosopher Dr. Allama Mohammad Iqbal at the school's auditorium recently. Farhat Naeem, vice principal, was the chief guest of the event. She thanked Mohammed Bilal, principal PISJ, and said he is not only cooperative and active in the promotions of curricular and extra-curricular activities in the school but also has been a guide for literature and poetry events. She congratulated the members and in-charge of literary society for organizing such a function and paid tribute to Allama Iqbal. Farhat said, "Iqbal was the "Poet of the East" and he sought to instill the attribute of Shaheen (Eagle) in the Muslim youth. Our students should have the features of Shaheen (Eagle eyed)." Earlier the program commenced with the recitation of few verses from Holy Qur'an by Hussein Musa and translated by Khadija student of class 9C. Arbia Masood presented Naat. Somayya Yousuf student of class 10A moderated the proceedings. Bintul Hasan, in-charge literary society, welcomed the guests and spoke about Allama Iqbal's life. Areej Sarfraz and Mahak Asad presented Iqbal's world famous poem Shikwa and Jawab-e-Shikwa. In second session different houses presented a get up of Allama Iqbal. According to the judges Marium House (house mistress Ms. Rifat Sultana) was declared first. While Aysha House (Ms. Maimona Anjum) and Fatima House (Qudsia Quraishi) were second and third respectively. The program ended with the rendition of the Pakistan national anthem.
