RIYADH — First Secretary at Indian Embassy Dr. Hifzur Rahman Azmi expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation of Mushairas, where performance of poet is nothing less than an actor. He said that the Urdu poets nowadays are sensationalizing poetry in such a way that it feels like news headlines are being broadcasted from the Mushaira stage. Hifzur Rahman was addressing a large gathering of Urdu language lovers at "Sham-e-Turaz" organized by Mumtaz Group at Niagara banquet hall. He said, "In this situation there are few poets who have kept alive the rich heritage of Urdu poetry and A.M. Turaz is one of them." Famous Poet and Bollywood lyricist A.M. Turaz regaled the audience with mesmerizing romantic poetry and ghazals. He captivated the audience with his renderings and his poetries were received and appreciated with repeated thunderous applause. "Jheel Ankho ko na hoto ko kamal kahtay hai- Khoon Ankho say jo tapkay toh ghazal kahtay hai. "Sangay marmar ki minar may nahi koi kashish aapkay jism ko hum taj mahal khatay hai" Hum nai ek dil pay kai saal hukumat ki hai hum ko duniya yeh mohabat ka moghal kahtay hai. "Jisko Chunay ki Ijazat na thi Adam ko Wahan Hum Teray Husn ko us Pard ka phal khatay hai. "Hum say badta na gaya lavaz zay judai bhi Turaz Hijr may log sunha hai kay ghazal khatay hai" "Teray badan ki siasat thi ya junoon mera tammam raat dahrakta raha suko mera". Local poets Shafeeq Nadvi and Zafar Mahmood presented their poetry. The Mumtaz Group felicitated the members of the new managing committee of International Indian School Riyadh at Naigra Restaurant. Mohammed Rafeeq, general manager, Mumtaz Group presented gifts, traditional shawls and bouquets to the chief guest and poets. The Mushaira started with the recitation of verses of Holy Qur'an by Hafiz Khaja Aleemuddin. Former chairman Bihar Foundation Obaid ur Rahman conducted the proceeding of the inaugural event while the Mushaira was compered by poet Shafeeq Nadvi. Mohammed Farooqui Shabaz proposed vote of thanks. Abdul Rahman Saleem, president, Hindustani Bazme Urdu, Mohammed Quaiser, president, OUAAR, Dr. Mohammed Ashraf Ali, president, AIUS, Sultan Mazharuddin, Javed Ali, Syed Sajid Ali and others were present.
