King Fahd Fountain, the tallest fountain in the world, is soon going to have a rival. ALJ Community Initiatives (ALJCI), in cooperation with Jeddah Mayoralty, has signed an agreement to create the world's largest flag flying from the tallest flagpole in the world. The flag, which will be installed at Tariq Ben Ziyad roundabout, will have an area of 2,000 square meters and will be flown from a 165-meter-high flagpole. The flagpole will be equipped with an automatic hoisting system, advanced cameras, and a system for measuring wind speed, in addition to a lighting system for prominent occasions. Engineer Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel, President of ALJCI, said that ALJCI will bear the cost of maintaining the flag for four years from the date of installation. Dr. Hani Abo Ras, Mayor of Jeddah, expressed his appreciation for the ALJCI initiative, saying that this project will be an important landmark in Jeddah.
