Okaz/Saudi Gazette DAMMAM — Labarotary results of some samples from Saihat Corniche in Qatif Governorate indicated that the water of the area is free of pollutants. General Presidency of Meteorology and Environmental Protection›s chief in the Eastern Province, Mohammad Al-Shihry, said an area of the water turned black and was then dubbed Al-Buqaa Al-Sowdaa (The Black Spot). "The color of the water in the area led people to believe that it may be polluted. But we took a sample of the water and tested it in the laboratory. The results of some samples reassured us that the water is in fact clean and free of pollutants," said Al-Shihry. He added the presidency is waiting for the results of the rest of the samples to ensure that the water is absolutely clean. "The presidency will only release scientifically proven information. We will also investigate the cause of the sudden color change. "The water came in torrents through a sewage pipe. The incident outraged environmental authorities and the people of the area," said Al-Shihry. He added the environmental authorities demanded that the people responsible for the torrent to be penalized. Saihat Corniche has had several health and environmental violations that killed the marine life in the area.
