The Ministry of Justice will establish specialized centers to provide marriage training for over 260,000 engaged couples. The training will be a prerequisite before the couples will be granted premarital licenses to complete marriage contract procedures. Adviser to the Minister of Justice and director general of social services, Dr. Nasser Al-Oud said that the family management license will be implemented in cooperation with the ministries of justice, social affairs, education and other relevant agencies. “The project aims to prevent family disintegration and the problems resulting from the rising number of divorce cases. Various agencies are discussing the way to select the best mechanism to train future husbands and wives in cities, towns and villages.” The Ministry of Justice is not responsible for training programs for future husbands and wives. Its role is to require official registrars of marriage contracts to ensure that the couple has a family management license, Dr. Al-Oud explained. He also pointed out that the Ministry of Justice has adopted strategic plans to reduce the number of divorce cases and the ensuing alimony and custodial problems. “The latest statistics have shown a decrease in divorce cases by six to eight percent over the past three years after the Ministry adopted a reconciliation program for family disputes.” __
