Borussia Dortmund reached the German Cup final for a record fourth successive season after staging a thrilling five-minute, two-goal comeback to stun holder and host Bayern Munich 3-2 Wednesday. Teenager Ousmane Dembele scored one goal and set up another in a five minute spell in the second half to help Dortmund come back from 2-1 down after having taken a 19th-minute lead through Marco Reus. The game lived up to its billing with both teams playing an attacking game and Dortmund avenging last year's Cup final defeat to Bayern. The Bavarians have now failed to win any of their last five matches in all competitions and following last week's Champions League exit to Real Madrid, has only the league title to aim for. "This is extremely bitter and I am very disappointed," said Bayern captain Philipp Lahm, who is retiring at the end of the season. Three-time winner Dortmund faces Eintracht Frankfurt, which edged past Borussia Moenchengladbach on penalties Tuesday in the final in Berlin next month. The visitors looked sharper at the start and pounced on a defensive mistake by defender Javi Martinez in the 19th minute, with Raphael Guerreiro's shot bouncing off the post and Reus sweeping in to score. The host roared back and Martinez made amends for his mistake in the 29th, heading in the equalizer with Bayern playing deep crosses from the wings to stretch the Dortmund defense. Xabi Alonso delivered a perfect ball for Franck Ribery on the left in the 41st and the Frenchman found Mats Hummels whose low drive put them ahead against his former club. Bayern hit the woodwork in the second half through Arjen Robben and should have added at least one more goal after missing several more chances with the Dortmund defense completely overrun. But the visitors carved out an unlikely equalizer when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, lurking at the far post, nodded in a perfect Dembele cross in the 69th. The 19-year-old France international scored the winner five minutes later, curling a superb shot past keeper Sven Ulreich to complete a quick break after Lahm had lost possession. Tottenham edges close With less than a month of the Premier League season left it remains Chelsea's title to lose but Tottenham Hotspur defiantly stayed in contention by grinding out a 1-0 victory at Crystal Palace Wednesday. Chelsea's already profitable week looked like getting a whole lot better as Palace doggedly kept Tottenham at bay for 78 minutes but Christian Eriksen's unstoppable blast meant they are once again looking over their shoulders. With five games remaining Chelsea, which beat Tottenham in the FA Cup semifinal Saturday and Southampton in the league Tuesday, both by 4-2 scorelines, lead Tottenham by four points. It faces Everton Sunday at Goodison Park while Tottenham faces a huge north London derby against Arsenal — probably the last one ever at their historic White Hart Lane stadium. Arsenal was also in action Wednesday, keeping alive its hopes of finishing in the top four for a 21st successive season with a crucial 1-0 victory over Leicester City courtesy of Robert Huth's late own goal. Huth deflected in Nacho Monreal's volley in the 86th minute to earn a win which put the Gunners sixth, above Everton, three points behind Manchester United and four points behind fourth-placed Manchester City. United face City Thursday. Sunderland's 10-year stay in the top flight will end this weekend if it loses to Bournemouth and Hull City takes a point from its trip to Southampton. That gloomy prospect arose after it was beaten 1-0 by Middlesbrough in a dismal basement derby Wednesday. Boro also looks destined for the drop but Marten de Roon's early winner at least gives them hope. "I think all we do now is we remain focused for the game on Sunday against Manchester City," Boro manager Steve Agnew said of his side who are six points behind 17th-placed Hull. With 74 points — a new club record in the Premier League — Tottenham looks virtually guaranteed a top-four finish but it is clearly not finished yet. — Agencies
