JEDDAH — Couples evacuated from their homes due to crises and disasters are entitled to a compensation of SR300 a day, according to amendments to the Immediate Rescue Draft approved by Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Naif, deputy premier and minister of interior.
The amendments relate to compensation for families who are evacuated from their homes during crises including fire, demolition work, floods, storms and earthquakes.
Families consisting of more than two members will receive SR50 per person extra for five days. They will either be financially compensated or relocated to furnished apartments or hotels or lounges or schools or field courts or permanent or temporary housing centers.
For a long period of relocation, a family of less than 10 members will be get a compensation of SR60,000 a year. If a family consists of more than 10 members, it will get SR70,000 a year. The payment will be in two installments.
Families will also be given food baskets containing 10 food items (rice, sugar, flour, vegetable oil, beans, tea, salt, water, dates and dry milk). Families consisting of five members or less will receive one basket and families of more than five members will receive more than one basket depending on the size of the family.
Families will also be given three cooked meals a day.
The Ministry of Health will also provide medical care to injured people.
