Okaz/Saudi Gazette RIYADH — The trial of a Saudi woman who was involved in rioting and terrorist operations in Qatif began at the Riyadh Criminal Court on Monday. The Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution (BIP) produced the 43-year-old woman in the court and accused her of involvement in several terrorist activities. The woman was linked to a media cell supporting terrorist activities. She also participated in demonstrations aiming at disrupting social unity and cohesion. She was accused of inciting others to fight against the authority and participate in missions to attack police officers and vandalize their properties. She was also charged with using social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook to advocate terrorism and support for terrorist organizations. The public prosecutor said the evidence the legal authorities have against the woman were her own confessions and testimonies and what the officers found in her electronic devices. The investigators seized the electronic devices from the woman, shut down her Twitter account and banned her from travel. The woman sought time to prepare her response to the charges. She also requested for a lawyer to represent her in court.
