King calls for solutions to Palestinian-Israeli issue, and crises in Syria, Yemen, Libya Saudi Gazette report DEAD SEA, Jordan — Restructure, reform, cooperate and unify. These were the suggestions Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman made in his address to the 28th Arab Summit here on Wednesday. The Arab League's restructuring, reform and development have become the necessary issues that should be quickly achieved, the King said. "The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia attaches great importance to the issues of development and economic cooperation among Arab countries. It is important to activate all decisions aiming at developing and strengthening the joint Arab action in the economic field," King Salman said. Another important issue the King highlighted in his speech was that of terrorism and the need to fight it on all fronts. "Among the most serious threats confronting our Arab nation are extremism and terrorism which necessitates that we unify our efforts to combat these evils by all means," King Salman said. The King also called for solutions to the Palestinian-Israeli issue, and crises in Syria, Yemen, and Libya. "The grave events in our region must not distract us from our emphasis on the Palestinian cause which is central to our nation. We must seek a solution for it based on the resolutions of the international legitimacy and Arab peace initiative," King Salman said. On the Syrian front, the King said, "The Syrian people are still being subjected to killing and displacement which requires finding a political solution to end this tragedy and preserve the unity of Syria and its institutions in accordance with Geneva Declaration 1 and UN Security Council resolution 2254. "With regard to Yemen, we emphasize the importance of preserving that country's unity and achieving its security and stability as well as the importance of the political solution to the crisis according to the Gulf initiative, its executive mechanism, the results of the Yemeni national dialogue and Security Council resolution 2216. We also call for facilitating humanitarian access to various Yemeni regions. "With regard to Libya, we believe that brothers in Libya should work to preserve Libya's security, stability and unity of its territories, renounce violence, fight terrorism, and achieve a political solution to end this crisis." King Salman rejected interventions in the internal affairs of Arab countries. "Interventions in the internal affairs of Arab states represent a clear violation of the rules of international law, the sovereignty of states and the principles of good neighborliness," the King said.
