Ryan Callahan rapped in a crisp pass from defenseman Michael Del Zotto for yet another Rangers power-play goal Saturday, and he and Del Zotto flashed bright smiles as they gathered to celebrate in front of Flyers goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky. Callahan later became the first Rangers player to score three goals in a game this year, punctuating a 5-2 victory over Philadelphia. But he was much more jubilant after his second goal, because he and Del Zotto had been working on such a play all season, without much success. “It was just nice to be able to connect on it,” Del Zotto said. The Rangers did a lot of connecting en route to their fifth victory in five games over the Flyers this season. The Rangers (35-13-5) found a new way to foil Philadelphia, pounding in a season-high three power-play goals: two by Callahan, the other by Marian Gaborik. Islanders 2, Kings 1: Defenseman Mark Streit backhanded the puck past Los Angeles goalie Jonathan Quick on a breakaway at 1 minute 36 seconds of overtime Saturday as the Islanders beat the visiting Kings, 2-1. Panthers 3, Devils 1: Scott Clemmensen stopped 27 shots against his former team as Florida defeated the host Devils. Sean Bergenheim, Kris Versteeg and Mikael Samuelsson scored for the Panthers, who have won four of six. Steve Bernier scored and Martin Brodeur made 18 saves for the Devils, who recorded only 15 shots in the final 40 minutes. Penguins 8, Jets 5: Evgeni Malkin added to his NHL-leading point total, scoring his 30th goal and recording four assists as Pittsburgh earned an easy win at home. Chris Kunitz had a goal and three assists for the Penguins, who roared back from an early 2-0 deficit. Lightning 2, Sabres 1: Steven Stamkos had a goal and an assist, leading Tampa Bay past host Buffalo for its seventh win in 10 games. Steve Downie also scored during the Lightning's two-goal second period. Jason Pominville scored in the third period for the Sabres, who played for the third time in four nights. Canadiens 5, Maple Leafs 0: Carey Price made 32 saves in visiting Montreal's rout of Toronto on the night the Maple Leafs retired the number of their former captain Mats Sundin. Erik Cole, Rene Bourque, Max Pacioretty, Lars Eller and Mathieu Darche scored for the Canadiens, who won their fourth in a row. Elsewhere it was: Blues 3, Avalanche 2; Coyotes 3, Blackhawks 0; Bruins 4, Predatos 3; Oilers 4, Senators 3; Blue Jackets 3, Wild 1.
