King's visit to deepen strategic partnership: Japanese minister

The visit of Custodian of Two Holy Mosques King Salman to Japan will have profound impact on deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries, according to Heroshige Seko, Japanese minister of economy, commerce and industry.
Addressing the concluding session of the Saudi-Japan Vision 2030 Business Forum in Tokyo on Tuesday, the minister said Japan will provide all kinds of expertise that contribute to implementing the strategic economic and developmental objectives of the Saudi Japanese Vision 2030.
"The governments and private sectors of the two countries would work side by side to enhance the close ties between the two countries," he added.
King Salman attended the concluding session of the forum.
Several prominent businessmen from Japan and the Kingdom attended the forum.
In the keynote speech at the forum, Adel Fakieh, minister of economy and planning, emphasized that the economic and human resources capabilities of Japan are a strong impetus for further enhancing bilateral cooperation to achieve the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
He thanked the King for attending the forum, which aims at enabling the private sector to play a pivotal role in the economic and social development of both the countries, besides providing all basic fundamentals to the nation's growth and development.
Fakieh said the Kingdom and Japan are determined to enhance bilateral cooperation and provide whatever facilitates for the implementation of a big number of initiatives emanating from the Saudi Japanese Vision 2030.
These projects cover industrial competitiveness, technology, energy and natural resources, entertainment and media, healthcare, medical materials, qualified infrastructure, agriculture and food security, small and medium facilities, capabilities building, culture, sports, education, investment and finance. "These initiatives and projects could be implemented through four key fields: legislations and measures, incentives, constitutional support and human capital," he said.
Addressing the forum, Sadayuki Sakakibara, chairman of the board of directors of the Japan Business Federation, briefed on the vast scope for economic and investment cooperation between the Kingdom and Japan. He emphasized the keenness of the Japanese business sector on achieving the economic and developmental objectives of the Saudi Japanese Vision 2030.
The Forum discussed the ways to achieve executive programs emanated from the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and strengthen cooperation in implementing the initiatives in diverse fields. The forum also stressed the need for further boosting the volume of trade and investment exchange between the two countries. Several bilateral meetings between senior officials of leading Japanese and Saudi companies were also held on the sidelines of the forum.
