RIYADH — Imam Mohammed bin Saud Islamic University has strongly warned its female students never to do their hair like men or to imitate them in any way. "Any female student caught doing her hairstyle like men will be immediately sacked without any warning," the university told its women students through mobile text messages. The university also informed all the parents by the same telephone messages sent on Monday that this measure would be strictly applied from the end of March. "Any girl student caught to be looking, acting or dressing like men will be fired from the university without any warning like the practice in the past," the university told the parents and the students. The message made it clear that the girl students would not be asked to sign a pledge like it was in the past but would be immediately dismissed. In another message, the university asked all its female students and employees to wear the hijab (hairdress) during this week because there are men workers doing some construction work in the premises. "Because of the presence of men workers in the university this week, you should all be strongly committed to wearing the hijab," the university told its female students and employees.
