The Health Affairs in the coastal city of Qunfudah has opened an investigation into allegations that a medical team has caused paralysis in the left hand of a 9-month-old baby after giving him a wrong injection. The baby was brought to hospital suffering from seizure when the medical team injected him to stabilize the condition. Official spokesman for Makkah Health Affairs Ibrahim Muhammad Ahmed confirmed that the infant, Jassar Awadallah Al-Selami, was brought to the hospital on Monday suffering from seizure. He was given the necessary medication, including an injection. However, the color of the baby's hand changed after the injection. He was transferred to King Fahd Hospital in Al-Baha for advanced treatment. Ahmed pointed out that the Health Affairs will investigate the incident and will reveal the details. He said a final decision will be taken on the case once the investigations conclude. The child's father is a sergeant in the military stationed on the southern border. He confirmed that his son had a seizure and was transferred to Nimra General Hospital in Al-Aridha. They gave the baby a wrong injection, which caused his left hand to be paralyzed. Doctors suggested amputation of the hand as the only solution, but the father rejected the idea and decided to take his son to the hospital in Al-Baha. The father demanded the immediate transfer of his son to King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Jeddah. He said doctors who committed the medical error should be held accountable.
