Khomrah District here, at the weekend. Fortunately there was no wind so the fire did not spread to the warehouse located next to it. Civil Defense personnel responded quickly and brought the situation under control. Fires occur almost every month in Al-Khomrah, a district full of warehouses and factories, mainly because of large areas where garbage has been dumped. Companies do not have garbage bins outside their warehouses, but throw their waste on the side of the road. Many residents follow suit and the rotting garbage dumps turn into a safety and security concern for the entire area. __
