Educational improvement of Indian Muslims is our top priority: UPOWA prez

RIYADH - Uttar Pradesh Overseas Welfare Association (UPOWA) organized an induction ceremony to introduce the newly elected officer bearers and felicitate the former Cabinet members of the association.
Addressing the huge gathering of the Indian community Abdur Raheem Khan, the newly elected president, applauded the efforts made by the previous Cabinet and said, "Our organization's main focus will be educational upliftment of Indian Muslims back home by designing scholarship program for the financially deprived students on merit basis and offering career counseling to them."
In recognition of their tireless efforts for the welfare of the community, former officer bearers including President Moulana Abdur Rahman Omari, Vice President Dr. Abdul Ahad Choudhry, General Secretary Noorul Qamar Khan, Joint Secretary Mohammad Akmal And Treasurer Hafiz Zuhair Ahmed were presented mementos. On occasion of being selected as member of International Indian School Riyadh (IISR) Management Committee Abdul Moin Khan was also felicitated.
Dr. Abdul Mannan Shafi, the founding member and the first president of the association, chaired the event whereas well-known community member of UOPWA Moulana Uzair Malik Falahi was the chief guest.
Earlier the program started with recitation of few verses from the Glorious Qur'an and was compered by the General Secretary Hafiz Zuhair Ahmed. In his welcome address, the president Abdur Raheem Khan greeted the guests, applauded the efforts of the former Cabinet and presented the future plan of action for the association.
One of the active executive members Shaikh Parvez spoke about the importance of social work whereas Joint Secretary Mohammad Akmal introduced the newly elected office bearers. The former president Moulana Abdur Rahman Omari shared his experience and chief guest Moulana Uzair thanked the organizers for providing the opportunity to meet with the prominent members of the community. Underlining the significance of the mutual relations, the founding member and the first president Dr. Abdul Mannan Shafi said, "With collective efforts we can achieve the impossible."
Apart from the prominent community members, representatives from various organizations and a number of journalists attended the program. Executive members and poets Alauddin Asad Balrampuri and Akhtar Khan enthralled the audience with their beautiful poetry. Treasurer Abdur Rab proposed the vote of thanks.
