Bahith
Ruling on imported meat and poultry
Q1. What is the ruling behind eating meat or chicken, which is imported from a non-Muslim country like Brazil and has a Halal label on them? As there is no authentic proof that the meat slaughtered is according to the correct Islamic law (Shariah).
A1. Sheikh Abdulaziz Bin Baaz (may Allah have mercy on him ) gave the following fatwa to a similar question. He said, “If the mentioned meats are imported from the lands of the People of the Scripture (i.e. Jews and Christians), it is lawful to eat them as long as you do not know of something that proves its forbiddance.
Allah, the Exalted said, “Made lawful to you this day are At-Tayyibât [all kinds of Halâl (lawful) foods, which Allâh has made lawful (meat of slaughtered eatable animals, milk products, fats, vegetables and fruits)]. The food (slaughtered cattle, eatable animals) of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) is lawful to you and yours is lawful to them.” (Qur'an, 5: 5)
The fact that some slaughterhouses in the lands of the People of the Scripture slaughter animals in a way that is not Islamic, this does not necessitate the forbiddance of the slaughtered meat that is imported from these lands, until you know that this specific slaughtered meat is slaughtered in a way that is not Islamic. This is because the basic principle is that the matter is lawful and safe until you know something that contradicts that.”
Sunnah prayers
Q2. Is it permissible to perform the first four Rak'ahs of Sunnah of Duhr prayer after the Fard prayer?
A2. Yes, it is recommended to make up the regular Sunnah prayers if one misses them, according to the correct scholarly view. Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated, that the Prophet (peace be upon him) prayed two Rak'ahs after Asr. He was asked about them and he said, “O daughter of Abu Umayyah, you asked about the two Rak'ahs after Asr. That is because some people from ‘Abd al-Qays came to me and distracted me from the two Rak'ahs that come after Duhr; these are they (that is I prayed them just now). (Bukhari and Muslim)
Sheikh Ibn ‘Uthaymeen (may Allah have mercy on him) said, “The scholars have said, that if you miss the four Rak'ahs that come before Duhr, then pray them after the prayer, because you were excused from doing them before the prayer.
This happens all the time, a person comes to the mosque and finds that the prayers have started, he should pray with everyone. Later, he should pray the Sunnahs which were left. The regular Sunnah prayer however should be prayed after Duhr that is the way it is suppose to. (Fath Dhi'l-Jalaal wa'l-Ikraam bi Sharhh Buloogh al
