CAIRO — Despite the disappointment of losing the Africa Cup of Nations championship 2017, Egyptians are proud of their national team for reaching the finals and they believe that their team have a bright future. Egyptians had huge expectations of winning the championship after the effort of their team, but Argentina's Hector Cúper, the Coach of Egyptian national team said to the media that he is worried because he reached to the finals in his coaching career twelve times and lost all of them, and now lost the thirteenth final. Egypt scored second place after losing 2-1 in the final match against Cameron. A number of Egyptians traveled to Gabon, where the championship was held, to support the team despite the huge price of the trip that cost about 1500 USD per person for one day only. "We pinned our hopes on this championship so much, despite everything. I'm so proud of the team. We had huge expectations and trusted them, but anyway, we are still proud of their achievement. I'm happy that I was at the stadium with them," said Ahmed Eazzat, a 25-year-old, who traveled to Libreville, Gabon's capital to support his national team in the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations yesterday. "I'm really sad that we lost yesterday, but I'm extremely happy of the spirit that we had during the championship, people cheered together for one goal. In each inch there was an Egyptian flag. I'm happy that football can still gather the Egyptians away from their club affiliations. We forgot which team we support and we supported all the players," said Aly Atef, a 50-year-old Egyptian, who believes that their national team still has a lot to achieve. Many hashtags were made by Egyptians in Twitter to express their pride of their national team, -Our team are champions- is one of the hashtags that Egyptians launched to support their national team after achieving second place in the Africa Cup of Nations.
