Best burgers in J-Town
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 09 - 02 - 2012

A nice hot, juicy burger with french fries and a tall glass of cold drink sounds so heavenly and mouth-watering. One could go for it at any time of the day and if mommies didn't glare at you every time you wanted it, you would surely have it every day.
True, they are not good for health but once in a while even nutritionists allow us to devour those yummy burgers. But, this does not mean that you will have it every week because that definitely comes under ‘once in a while'.
Alright, this week we decided to find out the all time favorite burger joints, and trust me we had so much fun doing this survey as much as you love eating them. So, after a tedious month of talking to children, we selected five top places which make and sell scrumptious burgers and even the mere smell of it makes us go crazy.
The top most slot was taken by every generations favorite Al-Baik. Think of one person who doesn't like it. I am sure you can't even think of one. There is something about those simple chicken burgers which everyone seems to love.
“Al-Baik is my favorite fast food joint! I always tell my father to take me there after every 2 weeks!” said seven-years-old Ameenah. “ Every time I look at the shop, I feel hungry,” said eight-years-old Aaliya Ahmed.
On number two we have McDonalds. This favorite joint is also popular among children and adults. Its simple flavors and adequate portion size is an-any-time-have-one for everybody.
The happy meal surely makes you happy for they give you a toy, too, to play with, apart from the play ball area from where your parents have to literally pull you out to take you home with them.
“I love the Smurfs and car toys and that's why I always go for Happy meal. I have a whole collection of McDonald's toys and I love playing with them!” said little Mansoor. Other than happy meals, kids like Mansoor love the ice cream McFlurry and Chocolate Sundae! A meal is always incomplete without ice-cream and McFlurry's chocolate chip flavor is just what gets your mood on!
“I always go for the bigger burgers because I like to enjoy every bite and I always want my food to last longer! Big Tasty is my favorite burger!” said an eight-year-old Amir.
KFC's flavors are just amazing. The crispy chicken is simply tempting, and their wide range of burger and sandwiches allows you to easily pick the one you would like to have for that day.
An excited little 11-year-old Laiba was more than happy to tell us all about her favorite joint! “I love the dinner meal in KFC with drumsticks, a burger and fries. It's a tasty meal,” she said. “I also like its mighty zinger.” Laiba also told us about how she and her friends like to party in KFC and play in the Kids area where there are lots of slides to enjoy. “ I like their chicken balls and cheese cake,” said Isra Taha.
Hardees takes the fourth place in our list. It is famous for its big juicy char broiled burgers and vanilla milkshakes. It wasn't very popular among the kids except for those who like tangy flavors. However, they have their own set of loyal children who prefer their burgers over any other. He said “I like Hardees because the environment is nice and clean, I love the big burgers and the fries are a lot thicker and yummier than other fast food chains. I also like having the Vanilla milkshake with my burger,”said Amir. Their soft, chocolaty cookies make a light, tasty dessert.
Burger King comes in at number five for their burgers are really the King of burgers. They are rich in taste and huge in size as well. Two popular burgers of Burger King are the Whooper and Whoopy Junior, which is a lighter version of the former. They are famous for their tender bread, tasty meat and crunchy fresh vegetables.
Fatima, 12, said,“The ambience of this place is quite nice, there's a comfy couch in the corner and most of all, the place has non-smoking rule. That's why I always find it very comfortable in here!” “ I like the huge spicy chicken burger. It's awesome,” said Leena Ghamdi. __
