JEDDAH — The Consulate General of the Republic of IndonesiaJeddah organized a "Meet the Journalist Night" at Nusantara Hall, the residence of Consul General Mohamad Hery Saripudin here recently. Forty journalists from various media of Jeddah along with high officials from Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry attended the function. In his welcoming remark Consul General Saripudin appreciated the long and well-established relations with the local media and hoped to further strengthen the relations in the future in order to take the bilateral relations between Republic of Indonesia and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to a higher level in all fields. He said, "Strong partnership with the media must be well cared and continuously refreshed as it serves significantly the interests of the two brotherly countries, especially and most significantly in terms of a long historic relation Saudi Arabia and Indonesia as the largest Muslim populated country in the world." "Every time I meet journalists, I always say to them that a diplomat and a journalist basically have similar work. We both convey information and messages to public. If we convey correct information, we educate people. But, if we give them the wrong information, we mislead them. Our credentials lie at the information we delivered," he said. The consul general also presented the Consulate›s achievements of 2016 in all areas (economic, socio-cultural, consular and Haj Affairs) and he distinctly introduced the various consuls and vice consuls, who had striven hard to make the year's effort a success, especially the Haj. The function was also recognition of the honored profession of journalism as a driver of change. Various cultural performances like Indonesian traditional dances and Indonesian martial art called "Pencak Silat" were also performed during the event to enliven the special journalist night.
