Saudi Aramco inaugurated its eighth annual summer Children's Joy Festival for orphans and handicapped children aged 6 at a restaurant on Jeddah Corniche. The children were entertained by the well-known band, Spacetoon, and they watched a presentation on first aid techniques for the handicapped. The program, which is part of the ongoing Jeddah Summer Festival, involves 24 charity associations representing more than 1500 handicapped and orphan children. “We want to strengthen our relationship with these kids,” said Ahmad Baashen, Saudi Aramco's Public Affairs Manager in the Western Region. Baashen said many handicapped children feel they are ignored by society, which was wrong. “Saudi Aramco always thinks about the health, education, and even the entertainment of these children. So we always prepare programs for them at Eid, on other special days, and even in the summer time,” he said. “This program is also aimed at developing the skills of handicapped children and orphans by allowing them to benefit from training courses during their free time in the summer,” he said. The Children's Joy festival will continue until the end of the summer with Saudi Aramco preparing different activities and prizes for the children. __
