Leading Arab and international superstars and stand-up comedians are set to entertain the United Arab Emirates at the first Sharjah comedy night, "Comedia 3al Wagef", being hosted by Sharjah Media Center at Al Majaz Amphitheater on Feb. 17. Hosted by Egypt's celebrity comedian Bassem Youssef, the host of the 2015 International Emmy Awards, the one-of-its-kind live show will bring together celebrated names such Ali Al Sayed, pioneer of stand-up comedy in the Emirates, Bader Saleh, the YouTube sensation who boasts over 3 million subscribers to his hit show, "Esh Elly", as well as "Al Laila ma Bader Saleh" on MBC, Fahad Al-Butairi, known as Saudi Arabia's "Seinfeld" and one of the stars of the Emirati film, "From A to B", Ebrahim Al-Khairallah, the finalist of Arabs Got Talent and the funnyman known for the popular hand puppet, Temsa7, Kuwait's Ahmad Al Shimmari, another YouTube superstar in his own right and host of his own comedy club in Kuwait, and finally Egypt's Mohammed Morgan, star of the Kit Kat Comedy Break. Speaking on the first "Comedia 3al Wagef" night, Tariq Saeed Allay, Director of Sharjah Media Centre, said stand-up comedy has become increasingly popular in the UAE and the wider Middle East over the last decade. "With YouTube emerging as a convenient and every man's platform and medium, artists from all across the Arab world are discovering a fast growing and receptive audience that is always looking out for a good laugh," he said.
