BOROUGE, a leading petrochemicals company and a joint venture between Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Austria based Borealis, is set to showcase its diverse portfolio of differentiated and sustainable polyolefin solutions at the highly anticipated ArabPlast 2017, the region's largest plastics, petrochemicals and rubber trade show taking place in Dubai on Jan. 8-10, 2017. Participating as Principal Sponsor under the theme ‘Together we Innovate', Borouge will demonstrate its approach to utilizing propriety technologies Borlin and Borstar, innovation and material science to add value to customers, suppliers, end-users and wider stakeholders. "We are committed to support ArabPlast and participate as the Principal Sponsor in this highly strategic event, which reflects the growing regional petrochemical expertise and underscores the industry's importance in diversifying the UAE economy," said Hazeem Sultan Al Suwaidi, Senior Vice President Regional Middle East, Africa and Exports, Borouge. "We are looking forward to meeting with our colleagues from across the globe to see how best we can develop world-class end-use applications that make a difference in people's lives every day. Borouge will be able to utilize this platform to meet with customers, partners and peers and showcase our transforming, innovative polyolefin solutions and emphasize the many opportunities they create, throughout the value chain." Al Suwaidi added "this is a unique occasion to share best practices, explore new opportunities, exchange knowledge and identify ways of further enhancing our ability to meet the continually changing needs of the market, enhance customers' production and increase their competitiveness." This year, the company will highlight its experience in operating the completed Borouge 3 plant, after recently commissioning the state-of-the-art cross linked polyethylene (XLPE) reactor, the first of its kind in the region. The Borouge 3 plant, which increased the company's total production capacity to 4.5 million tonnes of polyolefin per year, made its complex in Ruwais the largest integrated polyolefin facility in the world. Following this expansion, Borouge is in a stronger position to provide quality products at scale, and capitalize on growing market requirements, particularly in the Middle East and Asia, where demand is expected to rise significantly. Borouge will also display its innovative solutions at its booth that cater to infrastructure, energy, packaging, agriculture and healthcare sectors. To add to the excitement, Borouge, together with a number of its partner machinery manufacturers, has arranged machinery demonstrations using Borouge material throughout the event to show visitors, in real time, how polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) pellets are transformed into various plastic applications. Additionally, Borouge will be hosting a series of technical seminars on the heels of ArabPlast on January 9th. Borouge experts will be able to introduce the latest applications and uses of PE and PP and provide attendees with valuable insights and advice on how best to maximize value of various production lines. From its dedicated Innovation Centre in Abu Dhabi and inspired by its mission to ensure ‘value creation through people and innovation', Borouge has been leading by example, successfully filing over 380 patents of unique polymer grades since 2014 and accounting for over 30% of all the patents registered by UAE applicants in the World Intellectual Property Organization database. Currently, more than 15% of Borouge's total production sales volume is based on products that have been developed in house at the Company's Innovation Center in Abu Dhabi in the last five years. Borouge also expects that the total patents filed by the Innovation Center will reach 750 within the next four years.
