JEDDAH — In front of 62,000 fans, the Spanish soccer giant Atletico Madrid, will be special guests here in Jeddah Friday to face the eight-time champion of Saudi Football League and two-time Asian Cup winner Al-Ittihad Football Club. The match, which is arranged to celebrate the 90 years of Ittihad Club, the oldest and most prestigious club in the Kingdom, will be played at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium at 8:00 p.m. Atletico Madrid with its superstars Antoine Griezmann, Fernando Torres, Yannick Carrasco, Koke, Gabi, Filipe Luís, Fernando Torres and headed by their coach Diego Simeone, have been given a warm welcome after touching down in Jeddah Thursday, ahead of their first ever friendly in Saudi Arabia. The star team was given a VIP treatment upon its arrival at King Abdulaziz International Airport, with adoring fans and locals waiting to get a glimpse of their heroes. The tickets for the match were sold out in 4 hours when it was announced last month.
