Visa, Al Rajhi Bank in deal for instant new debit card
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 22 - 12 - 2016

Global payments technology company Visa has teamed up with Al Rajhi Bank to add a new layer of functionality and convenience to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia-based bank's ASRAA self-service kiosks.
Customers can use the fingerprint scanning technology embedded in the machines to instantly print a new Visa debit card at any time of the day, which can then be used straight away. The new service also allows Al Rajhi Bank customers to choose the name they want to print on the card, while maintaining high-security standards by using the customer›s fingerprint to confirm identity.
Adel Al Rajhi, Head of Direct Banking at Al Rajhi Bank, said: "Our ASRAA self-service kiosks are designed to be a true one stop solution for all of a customer's banking needs. They can already be used to print cheque books, and now, thanks to our partnership with Visa, customers can also now instantly issue new debit cards. This is another important step forward in our mission to set the benchmark for customer service in the Kingdom's financial services industry."
Ahmed Gaber, Visa General Manager for Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman and Bahrain, Visa, commented: "Technological innovation is at the heart of everything Visa does and we are delighted to work alongside Al Rajhi Bank to make ASRAA self-service kiosks even more beneficial for customers. This new service gives customers the ability to print a new debit card at their convenience, which will be particularly useful in an emergency or outside of branch opening hours. Moreover, while helping to migrate customers from branches to machines, it will also serve as a catalyst in the ongoing transition from cash to cards."
ASRAA self-service kiosks are located in 100 Al Rajhi Bank branches across the Kingdom. They can be used to pay bills, view current balances and mini statements, make local and international remittances, update mobile phone numbers, print cheque books as well as account statements for the last six months, and adding beneficiaries. The new feature of printing cards using fingerprint will be rolled out on kiosks before 2016 ends. — SG
