MANILA — The Alaska Aces humiliated the Barangay Ginebra Kings with a crushing 101-86 victory in the PBA Philippine Cup Sunday night, for their third win in five outings. The Aces dealt the Kings their third loss in five games and their worst beating yet to the dismay of the huge mostly pro-Ginebra crowd that filled the Smart-Araneta Coliseum. The Kings were never in the game as the hot-shooting Aces poured on the points from the get-go until the final buzzer sounded. The Aces shot a sizzling 51 percent from the field, converting 40 of 78 shots, while limiting the Kings to a miserable 39-percent shooting (30 of 76 shots). RJ Jazul and Calvin Abueva spearheaded the Alaska juggernaut, with Jazul finishing with 16 points, three assists, and two boards in 25 minutes off the bench. Abueva added 12 points, five rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block in just 17 minutes. Alaska led by as much as 30 points in the game. Japeth Aguilar, Ginebra's scoring leader, was held to just 12 points and three rebounds in 22 minutes. Joe Devance was the only other double-digit scorer for Ginebra with 12 points as well. Starting point guard and usually reliable shooter LA Tenorio missed all his shots to underscore Ginebra's miserable showing. Star 99, Rain or Shine 91 Star's Paul Lee proved a thorn in the side of his former team as the Hotshots escaped with a 99-91 victory over the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, allowing Star to tie Rain or Shine's 3-2 win-loss record.
