JEDDAH — Director General of the Saudi Center for Organ Transplantation Dr. Faisal Shaheen has warned the public against fraudulent advertisement on social media offering treatment for renal failure patients. Shaheen said these advertisements are false and the products can lead to serious health complications. "Some of the advertisements claim a special mix of herbal and natural ingredients can cure kidney diseases permanently within two months of treatment. All of these advertisements are false claims. I warn all patients of renal failure against buying into these fake promises," said Shaheen. He said these products claim that they can restore the function of a kidney by 90 percent and the patient will not have to go through dialysis any more. "The products are sold at SR750 per container that lasts for a month. These products are misleading and have no scientific or medical basis. They may even endanger the lives of patients," said Shaheen. He said medical science has developed only two types of treatment for renal failure patients until now: they either go through the dialysis or have a kidney transplant. "There is no other medical option available. I have personally received renal failure patients who bought and used these products putting their lives in jeopardy," said Shaheen. He urged the general public to refrain from spreading messages and sharing posts on social media about these products.
