The Qur'an and the creation of universe
Published in The Saudi Gazette on 03 - 02 - 2012

European scholars often say a mere book from the seventh century cannot cope up with recent, modern developments. On the contrary Allah said, “We shall show them Our Signs in the universe and in their own selves until it becomes manifest to them that this (Qur'an) is truth.” (Qur'an, 42:53)
“Indeed your Lord is Allah, who created the heaven and earth in Six Days.” (Qur'an, 7:54)
The following verses clearly explain that the heaven and Earth were conjoined and they were both gaseous mass. “Have not those who disbelieve known that the heavens and earth were joined together as one united peace and We parted them.” (Qur'an, 21:30);
“Say: You verily disbelieve in Him Who created the earth in two days.” (Qur'an, 41:9);
“Then He rose over towards the Heaven when it was smoke, and said to it and to the earth.” “Come both of you willingly or unwillingly.” They both said: “We come willingly.” (Qur'an, 41:11)
The description above perfectly complies with modern science on the existence of solar nebula, which split asunder and created the Earth and solar system. Earth was molten due to extreme volcanism. The outer layer of earth cooled and formed a solid crust. Scientists say that out gassing and volcanic activity produced primordial atmosphere. Condensing water vapor augmented by ice delivered from comets and produced the oceans; and this explains ‘His Throne was on the water.'
The days referred in revelation are not twenty four hours in a day which resulted from the axial rotation of earth because when earth was separated from Solar Nebula twenty four hours in a day did not exist. Further Allah exemplifies, “a day as measure whereof is fifty thousand years.” (Qur'an,70:4). Hence, six days are six periods or stages for formation of earth and galaxies.
Scientists call them Paleozoic era and have divided it into six geological periods. The first stage is Cambrian cleaving asunder of the gaseous mass nucleus. It was intensely hot because of the density. The scattering of the contents over the vast space lowered its intensity.
The second stage is Ordovician, which is further cooling and condensing. Rain on the hot liquid mass cooled the Earth and the hot liquid mass transformed into a 10 to 15 miles deep solid crust. The next four stages are the four eras of geological history which are Devonian, Carboniferous, and Permian. Toward the end of this era, the formation of the universe was complete. This confirms the six days mentioned in the Qur'an. Hence, now it must be very clear to the European scholars that the Qur'an can explicitly answer any question and discovery of science today. The Qur'an shall continue to emit its rays of knowledge till Doomsday. __
