Qutb!, Abdal! and ghouth!”When I was a child, I heard stories about Abdal, Qutb and ghouth. I thought these were people with extraordinary powers, who help Allah run the day and night activities of this world. However, I later found out that such stories corrupt the faith of Muslims and are generally used to generate livelihoods for some people as per the statement published by the Kingdom's General Presidency of Scholarly Research and Ifta. Some fake titles from the mysterious world of Sufi are: Ghouth The ghouth is the head of this mysterious world. It is stated that the ghouth is aware of each and every matter which takes place on this Earth and the rain is also sent down through him. Even disbelievers of Makkah never believed in all these illogical stories. Qutb or Aqtab He is a ‘pole' who occupies a pivotal spiritual position in the world and is next to ghouth. They are five or seven of them and they assist and supervise the daily activities of the world with their boss. Every matter of the universe is in the hands of these aqtab, which come from Allah to the Prophet, from the Prophet to the aqtab. As they are limited in number, when one passes away he is immediately replaced by another one. Owtad They are three or four and Sufis believe that if they don't exist, the world's system will be disturbed and destroyed. Abdal Substitute, or replacement; used to designate a rank in the hierarchy of saints in Tasawwuf! There are 40 Abdals and are distributed all over the world (nobody knows by whom). Twenty-two are in Syria and 18 are in Iraq. If they are so powerful then why can't they protect their own country and its people. Nujba They are 70 and are located in Egypt to run the business! Nuqba (Naqeeb) They are 300 of them, though some say they are 500. Their main job is to extract the secrets of the world, the work assigned to them by ghouth. To support the above they have a list of fabricated Ahadith. A Hadith related by Ahmad, Al-Khallal and others from Ubadah Bin Saamit from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), said, “There will always be 30 people in this Ummah like Ibrahim, each time one of them dies Allah substitutes another in his place.” In another narration Al-Tabrani has quoted, “and by them the earth will be regulated, and by them it will rain, and by them they will be aided.” The Messenger (peace be upon him) said, “The chosen ones of this nation are 500, and the abdal are 40 in every generation, and neither the 500 or the 40 will decrease, each time one of them dies Allah replaces another in his place.” The Companions said, “Tell us of their actions.” He said, “They forgive those that do Zulm (atrocity) to them, and they behave well with those who behave well with them.” At-Tabarani narrated, that the Prophet (peace be upon him) “There will always be on the earth 40 people like Al-Khaleel (Ibrahim), and by them the people will be given to drink (or have rain come down), and by them the people will be aided, not a single one of them dies except that Allah sends another in his place.” Adh-Dhahabi quotes Ahadith and concludes by saying, “…by Allah there is no one in the Ummah of Muhammad like Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), and the distance between him and Ibrahim in excellence cannot be measured. But, this is from the fabrication of Abdur Rahman Bin Marzooq Al-Tarsoosi, may Allah not give him victory.” Then he endorses Ibn Al-Jawzi's verdict on Ahadith which are fabricated. (Tarteeb al-Mawdoo'at) Allama Albani (may Allah have mercy on him) said in ‘Silsila ad Daeefa' and Adh-Dhahabi said in ‘Al-Mizan', that the stories of abdal are all fake. They have declared them as Munkar (rejected). Al-Haafidh Bin Al-Qayyim said in ‘Al-Manar az-Muneef', “The Ahadith concerning the Abdal, Aqtab, Nuqaba, Agwath, Najaba and Awtad are all false (Baatil).” We as Muslim do not need intermediaries to fulfill our needs – Allah is sufficient for us! Even the disbelievers of Makkah did not believe in the system of the world being run by unknown powers. Allah says, “Say (O Muhammad (peace be upon him): “Who provides for you from the sky and the earth? Or who owns hearing and sight? And who brings out the living from the dead and brings out the dead from the living? And who disposes the affairs?” They will say: “Allah.” Say: “Will you not then be afraid of Allah's punishment (for setting up rivals in worship with Allah)?” (Qur'an, 10: 31) I ask Allah to enable us to see the truth as truth and make us follow it, and I ask Allah to enable us to see the falsehood as falsehood and keep us away from it.
